A year in review Jisc open policy finder 2025
View highlights and more detail from our latest annual report.
Over the past year, Jisc open policy finder has completed a major strategic transition, moving from the legacy Sherpa services (Romeo, Juliet and FACT) to a single, unified, modern platform. This consolidation has been more than a technical upgrade: it reflects a deliberate shift towards a more streamlined, resilient and user-centred service and an investment in a community-led, essential open access infrastructure.
Here are a few highlights of what we have been working on over 2025:
-
Unified service launch: Our new platform has received excellent user feedback. We have been releasing upgrades and improvements throughout the year to improve functionality and user experience.
-
Data integrity: We have maintained rigorous data vetting and review cycles, ensuring that we deliver trusted, machine-readable policy data to enable confident and efficient decision making in open access compliance.
-
Financial sustainability: We have launched a supporter scheme, securing £125,000 and setting the stage for long-term sustainability.
-
Strategic growth: We have convened an international advisory board, made significant progress with backend redevelopment, and set ambitious goals for 2026, including a new API and global policy comparison tool.
